How does one display the locations of quantitative or line analyses
on an electron image or element map?

After the map has been collected, it is possible to display any Quantitative Analysis points or lines from Line Analysis that were collected within the area of the map. To do this, simply display the map and then open the Operation > Map Analysis window, and click on the “Stg Pos” button. All of the points in the point.dat file and the lines in the line.dat file will be displayed. To remove the undesired points, click on the Clear button and select the points to be removed.

It should be noted that only certain points or lines will be displayed depending on how the map was collected.
   a) If the map is a stage-scanned map, the stage positions for the quantitative or line analyses
must have been stored with the “Scan Type” set to “Stage”.
   b) If the map is a beam-scanned map, the stage positions must have been stored with the
      “Scan Type” set to “Beam”.
If the stage position was originally set in the wrong mode, they can be converted to the other mode by simply selecting the opposite option and then "reapplying" the stage position.

When setting the stage positions using the beam-scan mode, the software stores a stage location and a beam offset. However, if the beam is set to the center of the field of view on the monitor, the effect of using beam-scan mode versus stage-scan mode are the same.

Other points to note:
a) The software will not display the location of a Line Analysis on a beam-scan collected map, regardless
of whether the line was collected using stage- or beam-scan.

b) On stage-scanned maps, only lines collected as stage scans will be displayed on the map.
